Be a Mentor

We are looking for people willing to help us support women leaving incarceration. By volunteering as a Mentor you will provide a supportive relationship for a woman incarcerated at the Shawnee County Adult Detention Center and after release into the community.

We'll provide training and support.

Your commitment is meeting your mentee once per week either in-person, via phone, or via email.

Your goals as a mentor are to:
  • Build a connection with a participant
  • Assist in goal setting, planning for release from incarceration
  • Connect participant to community resources
  • Guide participants through the Intersection to Care program and reintegration
  • Provide encouragement and nonjudgmental listening
  • Provide ongoing emotional support
